This gallery presents a unique collection of scanned glass lantern slides that once illuminated the screen of the Capitol Theater in Fayetteville during the golden age of cinema in the 1920s and 1930s. Functioning much like today’s pre-show advertisements, these fragile glass plates were projected before and between feature films to promote local commerce to a captive audience, specifically showcasing advertisements for G.R. Parks, "Fayetteville's Oldest Jeweler." In a fortunate twist of fate, these delicate artifacts were rescued from near-destruction, having been resurrected from the city dump and saved to preserve a rare glimpse into the visual marketing strategies of the era.
